The Girl With The Golden Shoes
Colin Channer
5 stars
Channer steps outside his norm with this novel, about a young woman named Estrella who is banished from her community and the only life she has ever know. Estrella always wanted more of the world than her little fishing villiage and sets out to get just that. Her travels take her to unknown places, unkind faces and she quickly learns everyone wants something. I loved the strength this young woman had, the courage and power that drove her. This novel reads like classic literature. Channer is a remarkable story teller, able to pull you into this journey until you yourself are walking with no shoes, a few books, and a little change in your pocket. As a fan of Channer's previous works, I was still amazed by his ability to bring a story so compelling and totally different than anything else. Excellent read! A story you won't easily forget.
